In the heart of LLandegla Forest, in a tranquil clearing which enjoys long evening light and the sound of birdsong throughout the day, Owl Lodge is a one bedroom cabin with a charming combination of traditional architecture and more modern amenities. Available as a self-catering cottage, Owl Lodge is the perfect place to spend time away from the bustle and stress of urban life and truly unwind.
Owl Lodge is a timber clad chalet-style one bedroom house with a pitched corrugated iron roof. It started life as a game larder serving the nearby 19th century hunting lodge, and has since been repurposed a number of times, including a stint as a healing room and artists’ studio, before being converted into a holiday cottage.
Enjoying views out over the former grouse moor, Owl Lodge is surrounded by rugged forested landscapes. Inside, a modern wood-burning stove is guaranteed to keep you cosy whatever the weather outside, while a barbecue and enclosed hot-tub will ensure that you can maximise time spent outdoors, enjoying the famous North Wales light, and taking in the sounds of birds and the rustling of leaves.
All arranged on one level, Owl Lodge has a single bedroom with a double bed, as well as a sofa-bed in the main living space, allowing four guests to sleep comfortably. The shower-room is finished in high-end slate, and a contemporary fitted kitchen, in the same open-plan space as the living room, benefits from timber cabinets, and modern equipment, meaning that while you stay in the heart of nature, you won’t be compromising on amenities. From the wooden floors to the whitewashed walls, everything inside this pitch-roofed cottage feels rural and comforting, making it the perfect getaway for individuals, couples, friends and families wanting to take in the beauty and peacefulness of North Wales.
While many guests choose to spend their time at Owl Lodge embracing a gentler pace of life, pottering about the grounds and surrounding area, or reading a book in the hot tub, the proximity to the Llandegla Mountain Bike Centre means that those who want a little more activity in their time off will be well served. The famous Horseshoe Pass is also nearby. For a slap up breakfast and excellent fresh fish, visit Llandegla Fishery and Café, or investigate a wide range of outdoor pursuits in the surrounding area, from a falconry experience to river rafting tours.
