Elegant, remote yet accessible, this chic Portuguese country house sits in large, well-maintained grounds with large green lawns surrounded by citrus groves. Portuguese chic, cool white washed walls, styled in a clean minimal style while soft furnishings and artwork introduce splashes of colour and texture.
There are three types of room to chose from, all with large double beds and their own bathrooms - the junior suite, double room (both sleep three) and superior suite (sleeps 4). All are bright and airy with flat screen televisions and free WiFi. The superior Suite includes a cosy lounge area with fireplaces to cuddle beside.
Each of the rooms has a private terrace with outdoor furniture where guests can relax with morning coffee enjoying views of the pretty gardens. Hammocks and swings are positioned across the grounds where guests can enjoy gently swaying in the sunshine interrupted only by the birdsong. Or perhaps take on a loved one at chess in the specially dedicated outdoor area, offering shade to the players keeping them cool when the game hots up.
Sun loungers surround a beautiful oval shaped pool and blue waters glisten in the golden light, further pools are also available to guests including one which is candle-lit in the moonlight.
Meals are also served at Imani. Fruit platters and fresh pasties greet guests at breakfast in the elegant dining room where regional dishes and great wines are served in the evenings. Just to the side of the dining room is a lounge area with Billiard table and sofas, a lovely place to enjoy aperitifs or relax and socialise after dinner.
To make the most of starry Portuguese evenings, head to the outside bar where guests can enjoy after-dinner drinks into the nights. The country house is wonderfully situated, and is just 15 minutes from the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Évora, ands two minutes from Cromeleque dos Almendres, a megalith complex dating back to the 6th millennium BC.
There is plenty to do in the surrounding areas. The medieval city of Evora makes a great spot to explore Alentejo food, Giraldo Square, where all the streets meet, is a lovely spot to enjoy a drink and sample some regional specialities including the famous black pork and rustic bread. Alentejo also has some great wineries which are also worth a visit.
