Located 10 minutes outside the village of Estremoz in Alentejo, Horta Redonda is nestled in the midst of a blissfully rural area. Spread across 550 square metres, this stunning Portuguese retreat offers up a living room, dining room and kitchen alongside a pool and a terrace with picturesque views of the surrounding vistas. There’s also a rustic outdoor bread oven dating back centuries, attesting to the unique nature of Horta Redonda as a home steeped in history. Generations of families have lived here communally.
Newly refurbished, this property combines modern amenities with rustic design, with the living area boasting three huge sofas and some cosy chairs where you can gather with your loved ones and plot the day ahead. This space is also nicely open plan, making it ideal for socialising throughout your stay. With one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms, this property comfortably sleeps six. These rooms are sleek and stylish with minimalist design, whitewashed walls, and lots of natural light. You can wake from a great night's sleep in your super-comfy bed and gaze out at the view from your large window as you enjoy your morning coffee. Horta Redonda also features air conditioning to keep you cool and WiFi so you can check your emails throughout your stay.
The kitchen and dining area offer everything necessary to cook up a feast, including plush, finely finished marble surface tops, an oven and an induction hob, a fridge-freezer, kettle, coffee machine, and a KitchenAid electric mixing bowl and microwave. The space is also home to a long wooden dining table that seats up to ten guests offering the perfect spot for a hearty breakfast or long evening meals that stretch into the night. Here, the inimitable vista of the Portuguese countryside sells itself, with the steep mountains visible in the distance, so you can rest up and unwind whilst enjoying the view. The kitchen area is further equipped with a washing machine and a tumble dryer, and towels are fully provided for added convenience.
Step outside and you can enjoy yet more fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. Soak up the sunshine lounging by the side of the pool or up on the raised sun terrace that's complete with comfy deck chairs. And, when the weather's warm, be sure to go for a dip in the pool to cool off.
Estremoz is steeped in historical and architectural heritage, offering up the Castelo da Rainha Santa Isabel, Igreja de Arco, Mother Church of St Maria, Porta dos Currais and Quinta Dona Maria. There’s similarly the Capela de Santa Isabel and the Port of Santo Antonio, the town walls ordered for erection by King João IV in 1642. The local area similarly offers up an array of local wineries and vineyards including the Joao Portugal Ramos Wines, Tiago Cabaço Winery and Herdade Das Servas, with museums in the form of Centro Ciencia Viva de Estremoz – the Science Museum, the Museu Berardo Estremoz, with its vast collection of ancient tiles and Professor Joaqium Vermelho Municipal Museum.
