Spaciously minimalist and modern, Black h is the place to enjoy the privacy of rural life in true style. Set in a stunning and private location on the west coast of Skye, the house overlooks Loch Bracadale and has views of the Cuillin to the east and Macleod’s Tables to the west.
Understated but exquisitely tasteful on the inside, the paired-back decor of Black h brings out the true beauty of its surrounding landscape through large windows that feature throughout the property. The split-level open design of the house helps to keep the atmosphere light and airy while the black-finished wooden cladding that wraps from outside to inside walls, brings warmth.
Although Scotland is known for its infamously cold winters, guests won’t find any chilly corners in Black h. Underfloor heating keeps every inch of property toasty, and there’s even a wood-burning stove furnished with logs for use if guests desire extra warmth and a romantic vibe.
The kitchen in Black h is equipped with all the essentials that you need for a self-catered stay, plus you’ll be greeted with treats and eats in the Welcome Hamper that’s provided. Meals can be enjoyed from the open plan dining area or on one of the property’s two outdoor decks – absolutely ideal for taking in stunning views when eating breakfast at sunrise or dinner at sunset.
In the master bedroom, the king-sized bed fitted with luxury sheets, is the perfect place to unwind. Once you’ve opened the blinds in the morning, hop back into bed to enjoy the view of fields peppered with heather and wild flowers through the bedroom's floor-to-ceiling windows. A generously sized shower room is next to the sleeping area, where guest soaps and luxury bathrobes are provided.
Black h’s private and remote location makes bringing a car essential. However, nature can be enjoyed straight from the property’s doorstep where sheep roam the surrounding fields and otters, sea eagles, and dolphins can be spotted in the nearby waterways. Dunvegan Castle and village are also just five miles from the property, and guest can or take Talisker whisky distillery where traditional whisky-tasting tours can be booked. The house is also close to two prized restaurants, The Three Chimneys and Michelin rated, Loch Bay by Michael Smith, which are perfect for romantic meals out.

Leave a reviewWe were at the black h for 3 nights in mid August and it was a wonderful stay from start to finish. Jason and Sarah were very welcoming, responsive over email and WhatsApp, while respecting our space and privacy. The house was immaculate and we felt very safe knowing that it had been cleaned to the highest standards. There was also covid cleaning policy in place and we were reassured that Jason and Sarah and their housekeepers have done their utmost to safeguard everyone. Having seen many photos of the house and its surroundings, we already had high expectations going in but it was even more stunning in real life. The house has been luxuriously fitted out to high specs and its design is well thought through, equally fashionable and functional. The spacious kitchen was a joy to cook in, and we were lucky with good weather and spent a lot of time on the outdoor deck too. We saw dolphins splashing around the loch one morning and really enjoyed our time there. We spent happy moments watching the sunset over the mountain range and the colours changing dramatically, then starting the wood burning fire once it got dark. Great location too and we easily accessed Fairy Pools, Neist Point, Coral Beach etc Jason and Sarah had great recommendations and we bought fresh lobsters from their neighbour after he went fishing! Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Would love to visit again.
