Nestled in the charming village of Long Sutton in Somerset’s rolling countryside, Upton Bourn Lodge offers groups of friends or extended family a relaxed rural escape. Start the day with a dip in the private heated pool before setting off on a stroll along one of the local footpaths. Relax in the hot tub and sauna or explore some of South Somerset’s pretty hamstone villages, stopping off to try the local cider at one of the pubs along the way. In the evenings, gather around the table for a meal together in the fantastic double-height dining room with the bi-fold doors open onto the garden.
Set amongst fields and with its own entrance, Upton Bourn Lodge offers plenty of privacy for guests. Step inside and you’ll find the interior is full of natural light, thanks to the impressive double-height windows and bi-fold doors. There’s plenty of space for lounging and entertaining with three reception rooms, a spacious kitchen and a large dining area. These spaces all lead straight out to the garden, enticing you outside in the warmer months. The kitchen is fully kitted out to deal with large groups with a range cooker, an extra oven and two dishwashers.
The house feels comfortable all year round, with a wood burner keeping you cosy in the colder months, snuggled up around the impressive surround sound smart TV system. There’s also a glass-fronted games room with a pool table and table football to keep you entertained if the weather is keeping you indoors. In the warmer months, the private heated pool will tempt you outdoors and there’s also a hot tub and large sauna to help you unwind and relax. There’s also a larger shared pool set in a walled garden as well as plenty of other outdoor activities including rounders, croquet and table tennis.
The bedrooms are split between the main house and the smaller detached Sping Barn. You’ll find four bedrooms in the main house, all with ensuite access. They are all large rooms sleeping up to 14 in total and a range of zip and link beds, daybeds and a king size bed mean that you can configure the bedrooms to suit your needs. The barn has a king size bed and a double meaning that the Lodge can comfortably accommodate up to 18 guests.
You’ll find plenty to do in the local area, from exploring the stunning natural beauty of the Somerset Levels to discovering the legends surrounding Glastonbury and King Arthur. Upton Bourn Lodge is set in the picturesque village of Little Sutton with its distinctive blue lias stone houses and pretty village green. There are three pubs within a mile of the house, one of which is renowned as the best pub in Somerset. Glastonbury, Street and several National Trust houses and gardens are all within 20 minutes of the house and you can be at the beach in an hour. There are also plenty of local cider farms open to visitors and offering tasting sessions.
