These three lovely huts, wonderfully remote and surrounded by rice fields and the Sado River, are perfect for a large family gathering or a group of friends with kids wanting a beautiful space to spread out and relax in style. All three of the huts have been stylishly decorated but maintain a rustic charm that will appeal to those wanting a luxurious place to stay that doesn't feel impersonal.
The Main Hut is the hub of the properties and set up for entertaining and coming together. Overlooking the fields and the river it is the perfect spot for a sunset drinks party and has a fabulous covered dining area with cushioned bench seating for up to 12 people. There's a fully equipped open-plan kitchen and living room decorated entirely in white and natural tones and plenty of soft seating and throws for everyone. There's also an outdoor BBQ where you can grill whatever delightful fresh fish you've acquired that day. If you'd rather take a break from the kitchen the owners can hire a private chef to come in and cook some local delicacies for you. There are two en-suite bedrooms in this hut, both beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Lovely little touches are evident all around, from the blue and white tiled floor in the shower room to the bright blue Smeg fridge in the kitchen.
The second hut is built with local wood in a contemporary style but is in-keeping with the simplicity of the region's fishermen houses. The owners call it the Love Hut and with good reason. It has one bedroom with a very spacious king size canopy bed bedecked in pure white linens and is ideal for a romantic couple wanting some time away from the party. There's a walk-in closet and a large elegant bathroom with an open shower and long deep bath. With nothing but the views surrounding you its a haven to kick back and relax in.
The third hut is affectionately referred to as 'the kids hut' and has three bedrooms, two with twin beds and a third with bunk beds. The twin rooms are suitable for single adults too, and whether little or grown, the bohemian décor and fancy little kitchenette will appeal to all. This is a space where you can let the kids run free whilst you sip a glass of something delicious, somewhere else! There's a small living room and a table where the kids can eat together if you want to prepare a separate meal for them. There's a full bathroom but most will want to use the outdoor shower which is much more fun after a day on the beach.
The kids hut overlooks the garden and the swimming pool and there's two outdoor lounge areas where you can lie down on day beds and read, curl up in a chair and enjoy a cold beer or clamber into a hammock and snooze. As if all this weren't wonderful enough, there's also a treehouse! A joy which will make the holiday a really special memory for the kids.
Comporta, a fishing town, is known for its long sandy beaches and excellent seafood, much of which is bought fresh from the boats every morning. There are several great places to eat including 'O Dinis' a restaurant serving traditional local dishes and 'Sublime Comporta Beach Club' where you can enjoy giant prawns and lobster rolls right by Carvalhal Beach. For the equine enthusiasts among you, there's also a number of horse riding opportunities - a popular past time for visitors and locals alike. There are three main beaches to choose from, the nearest is four kilometres from the huts, Pego Beach, a great place for sunset dinners and water sports.
