The Wine House Hotel - Quinta da Pacheca is a luxurious hotel, with quirky wine barrel pods, all in the middle of a beautiful vineyard in the Douro region of Portugal.

Built in the 18th century, the main house is an elegant four-star hotel, which mixes contemporary design with traditional features in its well-appointed and spacious rooms. Outside, in the middle of the vineyard itself are the wonderful 'wine barrels' - delightfully fun and quirky little pods where you can sleep out among the stars and the grapes. Each barrel has a large comfortable bed, with views out across the vineyard and the Douro valley, through the round glass panel in the door, as well as its own little bathroom area.

The hotel also comes with an excellent restaurant within the atmospheric wine cellar, where you can enjoy a first class Portuguese menu of locally grown produce. Superb wines obviously accompany the meal - and you can also help to create them, if you book the winery tour which includes 'grape stomping'. This really is the perfect holiday for anyone who loves wine.
