The detail

The Lodge Treehouse is inspired by traditional Kentish Oast Houses and sits high up beneath the canopy on wooden stilts. It is luxurious with heaps of rustic charm and would be a delightful romantic getaway for couples.

Head up the wooden staircase and you'll find yourself on a surprisingly generous deck with a lovely view of the surrounding fields. There's a small table and two chairs where you can enjoy a welcome drink and dine alfresco on a warm summer evening. The deck is also home to a rather splendid spa bath which you can enjoy in complete privacy at any time of day. A wonderful place to wake up with the rising sun, or bob about as the stars twinkle up above.

The interior is a fantastically designed circular studio room where you'll find a fully equipped kitchenette which boasts a new dishwasher, crockery, glasses and cutlery, where you can whip up a tasty meal for two. Weather permitting you'll want to dine on the deck but if it's chilly there's a good sized bar area with seats where you can enjoy breakfast and make use of the coffee machine.

The space is entirely made of wood and feels like part of the surrounding nature. Even the sumptuous double bed has a frame hewn to mimic the branches of a tree, creating a truly rustic and charming space to get cosy. After dinner or a day of exploring you can light up the wood burner, get comfy in the bed with some popcorn and enjoy a film on the wall-mounted TV before enjoying a peaceful night's slumber. There's a wardrobe to hang your clothes and plenty of drawer space too.

In the morning you can head through to the wood-clad ensuite and make use of the large chrome headed power shower. But if you want a lazy and luxurious start to the day you'll want to make use of the open air spa bath. The hosts have provided plush towels and bathrobes too.

The Lodge Treehouse is situated within close driving distance to both the cathedral city of Canterbury and many of the Kent coastal towns. Spend a day exploring the cobbled streets and medieval buildings of Canterbury, where you'll find plenty of excellent shops, cafes and restaurants. If you fancy a memorable meal out, perhaps for a special occasion, the hosts recommend the Compasses Inn which has Michelin Bib Gourmand status. The famous Pig Hotel at Bridge Place offers a stunning setting and food sourced from its own gardens or within a twenty five mile radius, while The Five Bells in Brabourne and The Tiger Inn in Stowting are both classic Kent country pubs.

The coast is around ten to fifteen minutes drive away and a visit to Folkestone is a must. Bohemian and full of curious shops and stunning views, you can also enjoy a trek with some alpacas because, why not. And for those braver souls this is the place to book in a helicopter flight! What a way to see the area. The hosts have lots of recommendations, so do ask if you're looking for something specific.

At the end of the day you can make your way back to the treehouse, pour a glass of wine and enjoy the utter peace and quiet from your private deck.
