Landscape Lodge is built in the traditional chalet style and sits nestled into the landscape of a small hamlet, surrounded by breath-taking views from its wraparound terrace. It really is the perfect retreat for families or friends seeking fun outdoor activities, a restful cosy nest and a place to escape to.
From the outside the lodge is a picturesque example of a snow dappled chalet in very pretty surroundings. The interior is wonderfully cosy and rustic, decorated in natural materials with a neutral palette. The living room has a big roaring fireplace, comfy sofas, chunky wooden furniture, rugs, faux furs and plenty of soft cushions. It's the perfect place to warm up after a morning of skiing, with a big hot chocolate and underfloor heating keeping your toes extra toasty. And when you step out onto the private terrace, you have your own wood-fired outdoor bath offering the perfect place to unwind in style whilst taking in your gorgeous surroundings.
The kitchen is modern and elegant and comes fully equipped to whip up a feast, or just prep the bubbling fondue whilst the wine breathes. Gather round the dining table and tuck in, or take advantage of the very large dining table out on the terrace that seats eight to 10 people and enjoy your cheese and wine alfresco with the beautiful panoramic views for company.
The lodge is a sanctuary and has been designed to ensure rest and relaxation in gorgeous surroundings. The ground floor is home to the Garden Suite, a family addition which has a double bed and twins in separate rooms, its own small kitchen and an ensuite. It provides direct access to the private garden and is also home to the laundry room. There is also additional space in the apartment for larger groups at an additional cost if required.
The middle floor which is home to the cosy living area, dining room and kitchen also has one super-king bedroom with an ensuite, as well as a study for those that have to do a little work whilst on holiday. The remaining three bedrooms, all of which have an ensuite, are nestled on the top floor beneath a pitched roof and wooden beams making it extra charming and cosy. All of the beds have iron frames and comfortable mattresses bedecked with crisp linens and warm blankets. You'll find each room dotted with interesting antiques sourced from local markets, lovely views, wooden floors and big rugs. The ensuite rooms are decorated with bold tiles and a mixture of cast iron bathtubs and showers.
In the morning, after a peaceful night's slumber, enjoy a long hot shower or a soak in the bath and take your breakfast out onto the magnificent terrace where you'll be able to enjoy the smell of pine as you take in the view whilst making plans for the day.
The nearest town is Abondance, a pretty French town with a warm community and a fantastic Sunday morning Farmer's Market. Stock up on the famous local fondue cheese and crusty bread before heading over to the courtyard of the Hotel de l'Abbaye, where you can enjoy a drink by the river. The hotel is also a lovely place to enjoy a good meal in an Alpine setting.
When it's time to ski you'll find Portes du Soleil a very popular destination with two of the world's largest ski areas. If you're visiting in the summer its a wonderful spot for hikers and cyclists with one of the biggest Mountain Biking areas in Europe.
And if you're here for nature, Lake Geneva won't disappoint! Take a dip in the healing waters, head to a spa resort for a hydrotherapy treatment or take an evening walk along the promenade and enjoy supper with lakeside views. And after all that you can head back to your cosy chalet, light the fire and binge a box set on Netflix.
