This stunning 19th century converted barn is part of a 450-acre country estate deep in the heart of Somerset. It boasts picturesque views of the Quantocks and Blackwood Hills, both Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This property, which received five stars and a gold award from Visit England, is ideal for exploring the beautiful sights that Somerset has to offer or relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the outside world.
The barn is decorated and furnished in a way that is at once stylish, functional and comfortable. A large kitchen is well-equipped to cater for 12 guests, as are the six huge bedrooms that come with ensuite bathrooms. Comfort is key here, with Egyptian cotton bed sheets and bath robes for all guests providing a little taste of luxury.
You’ll have the choice of eating together in a spacious dining area or going alfresco and making use of the dining area on the patio. This patio is part of an expansive private garden where you can enjoy the fresh country air undisturbed.
If relaxation is your aim, you’ll have exclusive access to a heated indoor pool, a sheltered hot tub for soaking in outdoors and a games room stocked with plenty to occupy the most restless spirit. For more sedate souls, you’ll be feeling cosy in no time curled up on one of the sofas in front of the log fire and TV in the barn’s huge living space. And if you’d like someone else to do the cooking during your stay, there are a number of highly recommended pubs and bars within 10 miles.
For those planning a stay with young children, baby and toddler accessories are available, and you can have access to a travel cot or highchair if you need one.
The Long Barn is perfectly situated if you’re a fan of active pursuits. Adrenaline junkies can turn their hands to surfing, karting, paintball and even quad biking! There are options and adventures nearby for all ages. There’s also a lot of history in the area for those who prefer more chilled out pastimes. It’s baked into the bricks of the castles and cathedrals in Dunster, Wells and Exeter.
Somerset is an incredibly varied part of the country, and you’ll be well-placed to take it all in. Huge rolling hills, harmonious riverside villages and glorious sandy beaches are all just moments away. Those willing to venture a little further afield will find themselves in awe of the land, with Cheddar Gorge, Dartmoor National Park and the Jurassic Coast all within reach.
