Situated on Scotland’s picturesque Isle of Harris, this stunning property offers a seaside break like no other. Located in a peaceful spot, overlooking a vast, sandy beach, you’ll be treated to incredible views whichever direction you look. Built and designed with soft curves to reflect the natural landscape surrounding it, Òran na Ma, translated as ‘song of the sea’, promises a getaway to remember.
Filled with bespoke furnishings and artefacts, reflecting the natural landscape and local craft traditions, the contemporary cottage is a real labour of love. Sensitively designed to celebrate its extraordinary environment, you’ll feel a warm welcome from the moment you step through the door.
At the heart of the home is the wonderfully sociable living space, with its full height windows offering spectacular views of the beach and hills beyond. Here you can relax on the bespoke sofas as you watch the waves crash onto the shore, or sip a sundowner while enjoying a glorious sunset.
The open-plan kitchen has been thoughtfully kitted out with everything you need to make you feel at home, from the beautiful, coastal-themed Denby crockery to the professional Rangemaster stove. There’s even a bread maker so you can enjoy a freshly baked loaf with your morning coffee.
For anyone needing an office, the study provides the ideal workspace, with USB adaptors, a printer and a window desk overlooking the sea. This cosy spot also boasts a Smart TV, surround sound system and a comfy sofa, so it doubles up as a relaxing snug.
The three welcoming bedrooms each have a different theme meaning you’ll be spoilt for choice. Whether you choose the Shoreline Room, inspired by the exquisite seascapes seen through the window, the Machair room, which celebrates the grasslands and flowers that surround the house, or the Chaipaval Room, with colours that echo the pink and purple heather that decorates the island, all the beds boast premium mattresses with quality linen to help aid a restful sleep.
Shoreline and Chaipaval both have ensuites with rain showers and Machair is across the hallway from a beautifully designed bathroom with a bespoke, boat-shaped bath.
When you want to make the most of the fresh sea air, head outside to the benched seating area to soak up your surroundings, or fire up the BBQ for a flame-grilled feast. Outdoors you’ll also find a shed with a sink, perfect for washing off sand, drying wetsuits or storing surfboards.
The rugged, natural beauty of the Isle of Harris is best explored on foot and you’ll discover countless walking routes on your doorstep. There are also plenty of opportunities to enjoy water sports such as surfing, paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing.
