Enjoy a romantic retreat in the picturesque East Devon countryside at Meadow Barn. This secluded bolthole is hidden away at the foot of the National Trust ‘Lambert’s Castle‘ hill fort, and sits on the pretty Bottle Farm. Guests can take in splendid views across the valley to Dorset and will be able to venture out and enjoy plenty of marvellous, scenic strolls.
The barn itself is quaint and cute, with an open plan, studio living space. The comfortable king sized bed sits at one end, with a comfy sofa at its base, which looks across to the wall-mounted Smart TV that's complete with Netflix and Amazon Prime. The bed is made up with fresh linen sheets and duvet, to guarantee you a great night's sleep. Wake up and open the curtains to let the light come flooding in through the giant floor-to-ceiling windows. This space is bright and airy thanks to the high barn ceiling, and you can open up the French doors to let the fresh air in!
The mini kitchenette has a double electric hob, a fan oven, a fridge with freezer box, and a slimline dishwasher, so preparing meals (and cleaning up afterwards) is a real joy. You can dine on the table in the living space, or outside in the sunshine when the weather is warm. The property also has a fantastic, luxurious bathroom complete with a rainfall shower, and a big, free standing bath tub. This is the perfect space for a relaxing soak after a day out hiking in the fields.
In summer, spend time outside taking in your surroundings and breathing that fresh country air. And when the colder months roll around you can stay nice and cosy inside thanks to underfloor heating. You also have a firepit outside so you can stay toasty long into the evening, and plenty of logs are provided.
Avid foodies will be delighted to know that the owners at Meadow Barn both work in the food and wine industry. On top of that, they also make their own charcuterie meats on the farm! These delicious, artisanal charcuterie can be supplied for your stay. The owners are well connected in the Devon and Dorset food and wine industry, so are able to help with recommendations, bookings and can also source delicious wines for you to enjoy during your time at Meadow Barn.
Meadow Barn sits between Bridport, Lyme Regis and Axminster, three delightful towns that are all well worth a visit. You're also just five miles inland from the sea, between the Dorset and Devon Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and have plenty of access to the amazing Jurassic Coast. The beaches of Charmouth and Lyme are a ten minute drive from the farm and offer a lovely day out at the seaside with quaint cafes, pretty beaches, and some cracking local pubs. Bridport has a bustling Saturday market and is just a 20 minute drive from the barn too. Lovers of the great outdoors will be pleased to know that you're nicely situated to be able to explore all of the marvellous countryside that surrounds you, so make sure you bring your walking boots with you!
