Lower Mill combines the past with the very best of the modern day in a magical property that will show families or small groups the very best of Wales’s Gower peninsula. This 400-year-old mill once provided the local village’s flour, but now it provides guests with a place to stay in luxury within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The property can sleep a group of six along with a cot across three extravagant bedrooms: two double bedrooms and one twin room, with each bedroom coming with its own ensuite shower. The master bedroom is the pick of the bunch, with a double shower and a deep, free-standing bath. And with boutique bath and body products available, you’ll be able to get a mini-spa experience every time you wash!
You’ll get a real sense of the area from the living room’s Gower stone walls as you curl up in front of a traditional Welsh-style fireplace. Snuggle up on the sofa or in one of the armchairs with a good book, or take advantage of the smart TV or Playstation 4 for some electronic entertainment.
The kitchen might just be the jewel in Lower Mill’s crown, equipped with everything that even the most professional chef could ask for. Gas and induction hobs sit alongside a teppanyaki hot plate. You’ll have access to both a steam and a conventional oven, and for making hot drinks, the kitchen comes with a coffee machine, velvetiser and even a boiling water tap. And after cooking up a storm, you’ll be able to open up the bi-fold doors and stroll onto the garden patio for an alfresco dining experience.
As well as the patio area, you’ll have access to one-and-a-half acres of grounds, featuring an outdoor shower, a pond and an idyllic stream. Keen eyes have managed to spot rabbits and even kingfishers at play out here!
If you’re keen to experience the great Welsh outdoors further, you have one of the country’s finest beaches just a 10-minute walk away. Rhossilli Bay boasts three miles of golden sandy beaches. Also within reach are several great walking routes for the ramblers among you, with the top of Rhossilli Down affording you with stunning views from the highest point of the Gower. And if you prefer more sedate adventures, you can stroll along to the King’s Head for a pint and some classic pub food.
Other outdoor adventures are further afield. Worms Head is a National Trust site featuring some of Wales’s most famous cliffs, and there are also opportunities elsewhere for you to get the blood pumping and give paddle boarding, kayaking and mountain boarding a go!
