Set in three hectares of vines, walnuts and hazelnuts near the Unesco World Heritage designated village of Neive, Langhe Country House is a traditional L-shaped villa with gorgeous views of the surrounding topography, where guests can rent individual suits in a private wing of the house. Lovingly refurbished by the architect owner, who currently lives in the other wing, Langhe is a truly breath-taking property and an unmissable opportunity to take in the beauty, cuisine and culture of this unspoiled gem in the North West of Italy.
In the guest wing of the property, six suites have been renovated to bring the comfort and luxury of the twenty first century to this stunningly well-preserved architectural treasure. Each room has its own distinctive style, and benefits from far-reaching views of the neighbouring landscape, a visual treat whatever the season.
Guests can expect a private en-suite bathroom, as well as use of the Wi-Fi, a 42 inch television, and a high-end buffet style breakfast in the neighbouring converted barn. In all of the rooms, the aesthetic emphasis is on classic, confident, authenticity, with most of the furniture having been sourced from local houses, antique shops and markets, and re-purposed to serve its current function. The ethos of local craft extends to the food which is served at breakfast, which typically includes cheeses, charcuterie and pastries from the surrounding area, which has long been celebrated for the quality of its provender.
Between the extraordinary architecture of the house itself and the elegant surrounding greenery, guests feel little pressure to leave the property, preferring to luxuriate in the Italian sun with a glass of wine and a book, unwind by the pool, or take in the vineyards during a leisurely stroll. That said, for more energetic holidaymakers, Neive is a foodie mecca and historically fascinating village. Local truffle hunting excursions using traditional techniques can be arranged, as can balloon sightseeing trips and tours of the nearby wineries. Yoga, bicycle rental, and Vespa courses can also be easily organised.
