In the heart of the Greta valley, perched in a clearing among native species of bush, Korimako PurePod is an extraordinary glass space, available to rent on a self-catered basis, and offering everything individual travellers or couples could need for an ultra-romantic break in the New Zealand wilderness. Accessed via a quiet road followed by a ten minute hike, Korimako is a truly immersive experience, surrounded by indigenous plants, local rare birds, and clear air, making it the perfect retreat for nature lovers are anybody who wants to get away from urban life and re-connect with the wild.
The space itself is designed and laid out on an open plan basis, crafted with architectural choices which bring in light, and create a harmony with the natural world all around. From the ultra-comfortable bed you'll be able to watch the stars rise at night, and watch the trees and bushes move with the wind, playing host to various birds. Your kitchen is in the same glass-walled area, and despite the remote location, you'll be delighted to find that it offers all of the contemporary facilities you need to eat well after a long day of exploring. Even the high-pressure shower has extraordinary views of the sea. There is a small porch on the side of the pod, with two low deck chairs, and an abundance of wild outdoor space in every direction. The land which the pod is situated on slopes down the bay, and beyond that, Motunau Island, which can be seen from the pod.
The surrounding region has a a rich and storied history which the farm has been a big part of. There are wineries very close by at Waipara, which offer tours, and are well worth visiting to learn about the wine making process, and buy a couple of bottles to bring back to the pod. There is also a range of outdoors activities, from wild swimming and walking Motaunu Beach to mountain biking a ninety minute track right around the farm, using your own bikes or renting them from the owners. There is also the option to go on an hour long guided driving tour of the region, which takes in a nearby seal colony as well as the beautiful undulating shore, and encompasses an oral history of the original farm. Fishing the Hurunui River is also a great way to spend an afternoon, as is taking the Energy Jet boat ride up the river. That said, many guests choose to lay low during their stay, enjoying lazy days taking in the panoramic views, wandering around the area, and enjoying a glass of wine at dusk as the birds feed.
