The details
Previously a campsite purely catering in pitches for tents this glorious wooded haven is now offering static accommodation with nine delightful wooden 'forest bed' huts and five bell tents. Set beneath the lush forest canopy with the Savinja River running through it, this campsite is the perfect choice for those who want to connect with nature, socialise with other travellers and enjoy some wonderful hiking.
The wooden huts are built from local timber and contain a large comfortable made up bed, they also have electricity making it the perfect cosy haven beneath the trees without the need for a torch. The bell tents are larger, also attached to electricity, and contain a double bed and two singles all made up with cosy bedding. They also have a table and chairs included for four where you can eat in private or sit out in the sun.
The site is fabulously integrated with nature and very environmentally conscious. There's a beautiful outdoor shared kitchen with everything you'll need to cook a feast and a covered dining area means you can share a meal in comfort with other holiday makers. The area also has several restaurants serving local cuisine and the camp serves breakfast in the dining area every morning, and sometimes suppers too (in July and August). The site also has five fires for BBQs and a big camp fire where you can happily spend the evening cooking under the stars in good company with a cold drink and the sound of the Savinja River to relax you.
After a peaceful night's slumber, rise and enjoy the water-saving external eco showers which have a good supply of hot water, or use the internal ones located in two separate shared toilet facilities. There's plenty for everyone.
This is a great place for hikes and biking tours in the mountains and the surrounding area also offers plenty of sporty activities, such as mountaineering, canyoning, rafting and kayaking. The river is clean and people enjoy swimming in it too! But if all of that sounds like a lot of energy you can just locate a hammock beneath the trees, borrow a book from the mini library and settle in for a snooze. There's a small petting zoo with horses, ducks, rabbits and goats, and the kids also have a covered play area with various activities and table tennis to keep them entertained.
However you choose to spend your time at Forest Mozirje, you'll be warmly welcomed into a beautiful natural habitat with crystal clear waters and lush green surroundings.
