This tranquil, luxurious house, set among the trees in seven acres of gardens, is a genuinely stunning property. It was created by international award-winning garden designer Phillip Johnson and his wife Sarah and is surrounded by billabong pools, mountain ash trees, waterfalls, birdsong and has its own private swimming hole.
The house itself is airy and stylish, with a clean, contemporary design. Huge glass windows give views from every room over the green and mysterious gardens. The property is wrapped by a wide wooden terrace, where you can step out and find yourself in among the canopy of leaves.
It sleeps four people in two rooms, one king sized and one queen sized, both with doors which open out onto the terrace and the gardens beyond. The bedrooms share a generously sized bathroom with huge corner bath.
The living area has a wood burning stove for those cool nights, sofas and amazing double aspect views. The kitchen is perfectly appointed and you'll find a breakfast basket which includes fresh eggs from Sarah and Phillip's farm.
Outside, there are seven acres of natural gardens, designed by Phillip, and the inspiration for his Best in Show winning garden at the RHS International Chelsea Flower show. You'll find tumbling waterfalls, an outdoor shower, hidden pools, and a natural swimming hole. All the water is harvested naturally and the property has won awards for its sustainable credentials.
Billabong Falls is just under a hour's drive from Melbourne, near the Yarra Valley. It's only a few minutes away from the towns of Sassafras & Olinda, both of which are tourist hubs where you can find plenty of shops and places to eat.
