Between the mountains and the ocean, surrounded by rolling green fields and woodland and home to whales, dolphins, penguins - the Annandale Farm Coastal Escape can quite simply be described as paradise.
Each of the four properties has its own private location, with breathtaking views of the Banks peninsula and glimpses of the snowy peaks of the Kaikoura mountain range, and all within footsteps of the thundering Pacific Ocean. And the villas themselves are no less impressive. Beautiful architecture, style and luxury are absolutes in each of the Annandale properties, whether modern or period, they have been designed to wow guests on-sight.
Set among lawned gardens, the Homestead offers guests a luxurious stay in a beautiful Colonial-style, timber clad home. Built in the 1880s, its the ideal getaway for large groups, and boasts a range of on site activities, from the two private swimming pools, large gym, tennis court and, of course, all the fun the ocean brings when it is on your doorstep. Inside this sympathetically restored villa oozes character while offering modern comfort and convenience.
The one-bedroom Shepherd's Cottage might be regarded as the Homestead's little brother. Set high on a hillside, it offers guests unparalleled views of the expansive ocean and the snowy peaks of the nearby mountains. Surrounded by fields inhabited by livestock, this charming cottage has a timber interior from the kitchen to the walls, floors and ceilings. Spend evenings cuddled up beside the large open fire before retiring to the extra large king sized bed situated in the large roof space of the cottage and wake to the sound of the famous New Zealand bird life and the scent of the ocean.
Seascape would make a remarkable honeymoon destination. Hop aboard the farm's 4x4 for a 45 minute drive through the rolling green hills to a secluded and private bay. Sitting just back from the ocean, constructed from local stone and with a living roof, it nestles organically against the hillside. Wall to ceiling glass allows 24 hour views of the remarkable bay and an outdoor living room makes a special place to sit out on warm evenings spotting Cetaceans. Guests will truly feel like the only two people in the world.
Like Seascape, Scrubby Bay is a secluded property on its own private bay. This large timber and glass building is centrally staged mid-bay to maximise the views of this spectacular setting. Large wall to ceiling windows ensure you never miss a moment of the scenery, while the interior is luxurious, modern and perfect for relaxing with friends and family.
Foodies will love the restaurants of nearby Akaroa. Wildlife lovers will enjoy spotting rare, and small, Hector Dolphin which inhabits the bay area.
