Enjoy one of the best views in Britain in this unique holiday home built from a converted WW2 building
This unique property, built during the Second World War, has been lovingly restored in a German modernist Bauhaus style while maintaining some of the original features. It really is a fabulous holiday home for friends and family looking to explore the isle of Jersey.
This self catering accommodation is set over six floors in Jersey’s National Park on the south west shoreline. After entering the Radio Tower guests wind their way through the centre of it via a concrete staircase. On each of the first to third floors are three identical double bedrooms built into the rounded walls, with fitted wardrobes and their own private en-suite shower rooms with WC. The fourth floor is home to the well equipped and modern kitchen, complete with custom worktops, oven, fridge, and microwave. There is also a further WC on this level.
Heading up again via the wooden staircase to the fifth floor reveals the spacious living area with a stunning 360 degree view through the glass panelled walls. There is a dining table seating up to eight guests and comfy sofas, while the real treat is the observation deck which circles the entire top floor. From this position on the cliff top those staying overlook the iconic Corbiere lighthouse and the stunning bay of St Ouen.
The original MP tower was built by the Germans during the Second World War, but was adapted for use by the States of Jersey Harbours and Airport Committee in 1976, before being managed by Jersey Heritage as of January 2006. The tower itself is in a secluded and peaceful part of the island, but there is plenty to explore and discover elsewhere which is easily done from this location.
Steeped in history, those who want to take a step back into the past can visit Mont Orgueil Castle which has sat above the village or Gorey for the past 800 years, or Elizabeth Castle and its battlements which date back to the 1590s. Alternatively, the island is perfect for walkers looking to get out and about. If they choose not to go it alone there are a number of audio tours and guides to take them on the Ice Age or Blue Badge routes.
Please note: minimum stay for this property is: 2 nights low season & 7 nights high season
Radio Tower is listed by the managing agent Heritage Lets.
