This stunning property is found in the heart of the picturesque Cumbrian village of Castle Carrock, on the foothills of the Northern Pennines. The principal building of a Georgian Hall, The Country House has been lovingly restored and transformed into a 21st century holiday home, featured on national TV and in the press. Boasting several living areas, grand reception rooms and six luxurious ensuite bedrooms, it’s the perfect place to bring friends and family together to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a well-earned rest.
The house has been carefully refurbished to retain the building’s authentic heritage and charm, with all the modern comforts added to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. Upon entering the home, you’ll be instantly wowed by the impeccable interior design and exceptionally high standard it has been finished to. Care and attention have been put into every detail and the result is seriously impressive.
There’s a wealth of space and several inviting communal areas for the whole group to socialise and unwind. One of these is the TV lounge, where guests can cosy up beside the crackling fire and settle in for a movie night or binge the latest series. The drawing room is a real highlight of the house, with beautiful furnishings and a four-metre-high fireplace, and the stylish Orangery Bar is the place to be to have a drink and a laugh. Fancy some competitive fun? Head to the games room, complete with a pool table, games console and a selection of board games and puzzles to keep guests of all ages entertained.
When it’s time to eat, budding chefs will relish the chance to prove their cooking skills in the kitchen, which features a premium Ilve range cooker and a huge marble prep table. If you don’t want to cater for yourselves, why not hire a private chef and enjoy a true culinary experience? Meals can be shared in the opulent dining area, where floor-to-ceiling glass windows bathe the room in natural light and offer gorgeous country views whilst you eat.
The Country House has six stylish, individually designed rooms with ensuites. There are five king size bedrooms and one dorm room with three bunk beds, ideal for children but still suitable for adults. Each bed is fitted with a sumptuous Hypnos mattress and topper, all but ensuring a long and uninterrupted sleep. The bathrooms feature a walk-in shower and or roll-top baths. White Company products, fluffy towels and bath robes are provided for a spa-like experience.
The property boasts three acres of beautifully maintained gardens. There’s a large grassy lawn for games and sunbathing, the Orangery Bar garden for alfresco drinks and a paved terrace with comfy outdoor sofas for relaxing. West-facing, it is the ideal place to take in a famous Cumbrian sunset.
The house is perfectly located to discover the North Pennines National Park, the second largest designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in England. An extensive network of public footpaths (right from your doorstep) run through the rugged landscape and offer sweeping moorland views that will blow you away. Despite being surrounded by rugged countryside, the home is also close to civilisation. An award-winning pub serving up wholesome food, local ales and a very warm welcome to visitors is only a few minutes' walk away.
