Jackdaw Cottage is set in a quiet spot on Westley Farm, surrounded by rolling meadows and an ancient woodland. Found at the end of a winding farm track, with no road and no neighbours, the secluded property is a world away from the hustle and bustle of urban life – offering the opportunity to relax and unwind in total privacy. The cottage is available to rent all year round, perfect for tranquil summer staycations, cosy winter retreats and everything in between.
Beautifully converted from an old farm building and ringed by a traditional Cotswold stone wall, the home oozes rustic charm, but has all the modern comforts you could wish for. Inside is warm and welcoming, characterised by sheepskin rugs, wall hangings and throws inspired by North African and Native American weavings and crafts. It’s also full of antique furniture, bespoke artwork and a range of trinkets and curiosities carefully curated by the hosts.
At the heart of the home is the living area, kept warm and cosy by a woodburning stove. A lovely spot to relax and watch TV, read a good book or play one of the board games provided. When it’s time to eat, guests can make use of the kitchen - well-equipped with modern appliances and premium cookware – and eat at the dining table whilst enjoying the wonderful countryside views.
The cottage sleeps up to four in two bedrooms. These include a stunning master bedroom with a king size bed and a delightful loft room with two single beds. Both rooms have comfy beds, fitted with luxurious Egyptian cotton linen and warm blankets. There is one shared bathroom, with toiletries and fluffy towels provided for your stay. Step outside and you’ll find the beautiful garden, complete with a woodfired hot tub where guests can enjoy a relaxing soak with an incredible view across the idyllic Golden Valley.
Westley Farm is situated in the heart of the Cotswolds and boasts 70 acres of unspoilt countryside. Most of this can be explored, just follow one of many meandering footpaths or stroll across the wildflower meadows. You may spot some of the local wildlife, including kestrels, buzzards, owls, badgers, foxes and deer, as well as the sheep and cattle that roam the fields. Also within walking distance are some fantastic, quintessentially Cotswolds pubs offering hearty food, traditional ales and a warm welcome.
There is much to be discovered if you fancy venturing further afield. See the famous farmer’s market in the nearby town of Stroud, visit the historic Roman town of Cirencester or learn the fascinating history of Berkely castle, all a short drive away. The Cotswolds is also a haven for outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, wild swimming and more.
