Located on a farm in Devon, Heron and Kingfisher are two Lilypods, floating glamping pods which make the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle and unwind.
During the day, explore Devon’s stunning countryside before returning to your hideaway to lounge in the hammock suspended above the lake or sit out on the deck with a bottle of the farm’s award-winning wine. Cook out on the deck and stargaze late into the evening before snuggling up in front of the wood burner inside. Created with local timber and using solar power, these Lilypods are also a great choice for those looking for an eco-friendly holiday.
Both Heron and Kingfisher are stylish pods with a domed timber structure with beautiful views over the lake and skylights above the bed that are perfect for stargazing. The main space is open plan with a wood burner to keep you toasty whatever the weather. Snuggle up on one of the beanbags in front of the fire with a book from the shelves or get stuck into a board game. There’s no phone signal out here, so you’ll be free from any digital distractions.
Each Lilypod is kitted out with a luxurious king size handmade bed complete with bamboo bed linen, while soft lighting lines the timber frame, creating a cosy atmosphere. The bathrooms feature a bespoke walk-in shower and an eco-friendly waterless composting loo system.
You’ll be able to rustle up simple meals in the well equipped kitchens and there’s also a BBQ outside on the deck. While a late lunch sizzles away on the grill soak up the lake views from the comfy outdoor chairs or the hammock suspended above the water. Both Kingfisher and Heron come with their own Canadian canoe, for boating trips on the lake. Work up an appetite for lunch with a morning dip in the fresh waters of the lake.
Located on the edge of Dartmoor and close to the Cornish border, there’s plenty to do in the surrounding area. If you’re interested in wine, the farm has its own vineyard and tours and tastings are available. You’ll be able to buy a bottle of award-winning wine to try back at your Lilypod or enjoy a meal at the restaurant. The rugged Devonshire landscape is perfect for any number of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to horseriding. It’s also close enough to Cornwall to head down to Tintagel or Boscastle on the North Coast for spectacular sea views and you can even walk between the two villages as part of the South West Coastal Path.
