The detail

If you’re a fan of woodland, you’ll love this adorable cabin sitting in the tranquil trees of North Shropshire. Clonnagapple is a bespoke creation designed by its owners alongside Cotswild Cabins. That they’ve been able to cram so much into the space is testament to the nous behind the design.

The cabin contains a mixture of homegrown oak, reclaimed slate and recycled material, which makes it feel as though it is very much a part of the rural landscape. Inside the cabin, an array of warm colours help to increase the cosiness. In the living space, built-in seating, cushions and blankets take this further, allowing guests to sit inside in easy comfort.

A bluetooth speaker allows you to take it easy, listening to whatever you like while chilling out. And you’ll be able to keep toasty whatever time of year you visit, as the cabin comes with a wood burning stove and a supply of local timber.

A snug king size bed nestles in a separate sleeping space with a pocket sprung wool mattress and a natural wool duvet. Large windows immerse you in your peaceful natural surroundings.

The kitchen is neatly arranged, with a combi oven, induction hob, fridge freezer and butler sink all present. Whatever food plans you might have, you’ll be able to enact them with ease. You’ll receive a helping hand on this front too, with guests receiving a welcome pack containing milk, free range eggs, home made cake and some locally roasted coffee! If you’re up for a bit more indulgence, you can request a home-cooked hamper provided by the cabin owner. She trained at Ballymaloe cookery school, so knows a thing or two about tasty treats.

Outside, you can pamper yourself further by taking a dip in the wood fired Hikki hot tub. This is conveniently sheltered, allowing guests to bathe whatever the weather! There’s also a fire pit to either keep you warm or for outdoor cooking. Seating in this outdoor space allows for alfresco munching or for lazing around with a book.

The cabin’s owners are keen for guests to enjoy all that the local area has to offer, and will let you know of any interesting activities that may coincide with your stay. For those looking to visit a new village or town, Whitchurch and Shrewsbury have a lot to offer, especially for foodies. There are some exquisite gardens to visit at Hodnet Hall and Wollerton, and walkers are well served with impressive hikes around the Shropshire hills and Peak District.

For those looking for more sedate outings, why not try Brown Moss Nature Reserve or Three Wrens Gin Distillery? You’ll find something for everyone a short distance from Clonnagapple.
